We visited a lovely island

 

Last month my wife and I had a pleasant experience when visiting a beautiful and romantic island in Manhattan.  Governor’s Island is a historical place. The Hudson River embraces this island, and at night, you would feel her magic. That is the perfect place for celebrating special moments and for creating lovely memories. We will never forget this fantastic day filled with adventures and artistic expressions along with our poets and musicians friends. 

We were invited to participate in the « From the Island/ Great poets from New York».  For us to get to the island it was necessary to take a ferry. We bought the tickets at   Battery Maritime Building in Manhattan. On the ferry, you get a beautiful view of the city, and in a few minutes, we reached the beautiful island. Before the festival, we stopped at a Mexican restaurant and had tacos and sodas for dinner.  This restaurant is close to the port, and they also have other delicious food on their menu.

 The recital was in an old, big, and amazing house at Nolan Park. The mansion is one art gallery too. As you are sitting on the porch, you can imagine what it was like in the 18th century on this curious island where governors and militaries lived. That evening, several artists read their romantic and social poems, and two troubadours delighted us with their songs. We drank red wine and talked with our friends as the recital flowed like the currents of the Hudson. After that, we watched the sunset from the bank of the river, where the sun and water, in a magical fusion, blessed our marriage as if it were the banks of the legendary Nile River. The pirates who steal happiness don’t reach these waters.

If you are living in or visiting New York for the first time, remember to go to this island. It is important to look for more information before you visit the island. There are various ways to get information, for example, Google, YouTube, and Netflix. Remember to bring your cell phone or other device and take pictures of the old buildings and the river. Enjoy New York, it is the Capital of the World!
